Professional Collaboration | ZJA | 2020 – 2022
For three years, Bahareh was an integral part of the ZJA team working on the large-scale renovation of Amsterdam Central Station. The project focuses on adapting the historic station to accommodate higher-frequency transport and increasing passenger flows, all while introducing a coherent new design that integrates seamlessly with the existing monumental structure.
Working from the Preliminary Design (VO) through the Definitive Design (DO) phases, Bahareh took on a significant role in BIM coordination and technical design. She was responsible for designing key areas including the West Knoop, East Tunnel, and IJ-Viaduct. To ensure precision within the complex existing environment, she utilized point clouds to map structural and MEP constraints, ensuring the new interventions aligned perfectly with the historic fabric.
Beyond standard detailing, Bahareh developed custom scripts to analyze platform geometry and calculate slopes in strict accordance with NS and Prorail regulations. She also championed workflow optimization within the office, training the ZJA team in Revit, parametric components, and smart modeling strategies.
The project was executed in a highly collaborative BIM 360 environment involving multiple stakeholders including Arcadis, Movares, and Braaksma & Roos. Bahareh represented the architectural team in weekly engineering meetings, using high-quality visualizations and renderings to communicate design proposals and facilitate decision-making.
